Safaricom has a partnership with Google to avail Lipa Mdogo Mdogo phones payable in daily installments as low as Ksh 20 for 12 months. But first, you have to pay a deposit of between Ksh 500 to Ksh 5,000, depending on the phone model. The available models are Neon, Itel and Tecno.

Not everyone can get a Safaricom Lipa Mdogo Mdogo phone. There are a number of hurdles that lock out most people from accessing the devices.

The following categories of people are eligible:

1. Persons who are currently NOT using any 4G smartphone.
2. Persons not listed on CRB due to pending loans – including FULIZA, M-Shwari, HELB and other loans.
3. Customers whose Safaricom lines are at least 1 year old.
4. Persons over 18 years and below 75 years of age.
